Great question!! Chris and Leise’s favorite thing to do is travel, and over the course of our relationship we’ve traveled over 300,000 miles together. The past 3 summers we’ve had the privilege of spending time in Italy together, and we’ve fallen head over heels in love with it (how could you not?!). Chris also studied abroad in Rome, and Leise visited Florence while she studied abroad in London. After thinking for a long, long time about where we wanted to get married (just a quick 2 years), we decided that we wanted to share our love of travel with all of our favorite people, and celebrate together in the place that hits your eye like a big pizza pie - Italia!

It doesn’t work without YOU! Quaker ceremonies begin in stillness but they are participatory occasions. Guests are invited to rise if the spirit moves them and offer stories about the Bride and Groom, words of support, pieces of marital wisdom, sing, or otherwise meaningfully contribute. It is customary to allow a moment of silence between each contribution. You can make everyone laugh, but ultimately it’s a spiritual service so anything that might fall under the category of “Best Man Speech” is probably better saved for another setting. This is not a roast, but instead a meaningful ceremony to celebrate the Bride and Groom.
Also, there is no officiant. At a specified point, we say our vows to each other, and then we sign a religious certificate of marriage, which every guest also signs as a witness to the occasion.

ABSOLUTELY! We will be in Ravello starting on Saturday 6/28. After the wedding, on Friday 7/4, we will head up to the island of Ischia for 5 days (a 1 hour drive north and then a 1 hour ferry - the ferry port is 15 minutes from the Naples airport). Ischia is a more down-to-earth version of Capri, and we STRONGLY encourage anyone and everyone to join us in going there after the wedding if you want to!! We are (as you know) more the merrier people, and would love to keep the party going with a “buddymoon”!

Short answer: Nope! Long answer: We strongly do not recommend it. The roads on the Amalfi Coast are hairy even for the most experienced drivers, and we want everyone to stay safe! We recommend taking the bus or a taxi as much as possible.
-
Yes, but we would recommend getting up early to make the most of it. The drive to Positano from Ravello can take up to 2 hours with traffic (and the roads are windy), so we recommend going by a water taxi from the Amalfi harbor. Please reach out to Alessandra of our wedding planning team with more questions.

We will be at the pool at Villa Cimbrone all day on Wednesday, and you are welcome to join! It is not an official wedding event, but we’d love to enjoy the sun with you if you want to come over! You can also take this day to explore Ravello or Amalfi, or make the trek to Positano or Capri for a short day trip. Just a note to plan to be back in Ravello by 5:30pm to get ready for the evening, as shuttles will depart for the Wedding Eve celebration at 6:45pm from the square.

We recommend bringing Dramamine from the US, and we will have some extra on-hand just in case. For the drive, take a dose when you land in Naples or right before you get in the car to drive from Naples to Ravello. For the boat, we recommend taking a dose before we get on the bus to go down to Amalfi harbor. It will not be too bad, we promise!
-
YES!!! We will be thrilled to have you for however long you can join us!

Due to limited space and our venue’s capacity, we are unable to accommodate additional guests beyond those who are listed on the invitation.
We truly appreciate your understanding, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with you on our special day!

We LOVE your kids, and we understand traveling so far without them is difficult. Though we kindly ask to refrain from bringing your children to any of our wedding events, we are happy to help coordinate babysitters and childcare for you if you decide to bring your kids to Italy.
